Amanda Midgley

Councillor, Kingborough Council

KINGBOROUGH IS A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE, LEARN, WORK, PLAY AND RAISE A FAMILY. AS YOUR COUNCILLOR I WILL BE DEDICATED TO ACHIEVING A FINANCIALLY ACCOUNTABLE AND ENVIRONMENTALLY SUSTAINABLE FUTURE SO THAT ALL COMMUNITY MEMBERS CAN CONTINUE TO ENJOY THIS SPECIAL PLACE.

I have lived in Kingborough for twenty years and love that we get to call this beautiful place home. 18 years in the community sector, 10 years in local government and a Councillor for the past 4 years means that I understand the systems, policies and processes that make council tick and to get things done.

I am have been an active and passionate volunteer in our community and have contributed to community and sporting groups and committees. During my time on Council I have chaired the LGBTQI+ Working Group, Chair of  Kingborough Bicycle Advisory Committee and Chair of Cycling South.

Kingborough continues to grow and we need to plan for the future to suit the needs of our changing community including the impact of a growing tourism market, the large number of families moving to the area and our older residents.

Our future planning needs to consider: improved bicycle, walkway and sporting infrastructure, housing affordability, improved public transport, upgrading of our public amenities, review our waste collection services, maintain our bushland and play spaces, better community engagement and create wonderful public places.

I will continue to support the work of the Council on zero waste initiatives, climate change responses, activities and events that foster inclusive community, sport and cultural connection.

I will continue to listen, respond, act and represent our community to ensure we can all continue to enjoy our beautiful Kingborough.
