Amanda Midgley

Candidate for Deputy Mayor, Kingborough Council

Hi, I'm Amanda!

I'm a Kingborough Councillor, a cycling advocate, and a proud local – and I'm running as your Greens representative for Deputy mayor on Kingborough Council.

Kindness is at the heart of my council work. I believe in practical, community-focused leadership that protects our natural environment, strengthens local wellbeing, and ensures council decisions are financially responsible, transparent, and accountable.

Since being elected I've chaired the Kingborough Bicycle Advisory Committee and the LGBTIQA+ Advisory Committee, led the motion declaring a Climate and Biodiversity Emergency, advocated for the Kingborough Cycling Strategy that has helped deliver shared pathways across Kingston, and championed the $1,000 Quick Response Community Grant program. I've worked closely with community groups on everything from speed limit reductions to footpaths in Conningham to the worm farm at the Taroona Community Garden.

I work part-time to remain accessible and available to the community, and I'm proud to have maintained strong, respectful relationships with council staff throughout.

There is more to do. I want to keep fighting for better walking and cycling infrastructure, climate resilience planning, tree canopy protection, affordable housing in appropriate locations, and genuine community consultation – not token engagement.

I also want to continue supporting arts, culture, and the community grants that strengthen local organisations and bring people together.

Kingborough is a place where people feel heard, supported, and proud to live. I'll keep working to make sure it stays that way.

Hope to see you on the campaign trail,
Amanda
