Hi, I'm Anthony!
I'm an engineer, a small business owner, and a Glen Huon local – and I'm running as your Greens candidate for Huon Valley Council.
I moved to the Huon Valley in 2017 on a whim with a young family, a small business and a one-way ticket. I wanted to enjoy the natural environment and the four seasons, winter included. What I wasn't expecting was to make so many great friendships. It's the people here that make it such a special place, and I want to see everyone reach their potential. I've been in Glen Huon ever since, working in Cygnet and spending weekends around Huonville, Judbury, Ranelagh and Franklin.
I'm driven by values of creating a more equal society and reducing our impact on the natural environment. In a society, collective interest is the same as self interest – and the same is true for our ecosystem.
I've tended to work behind the scenes, helping people in my orbit where my skills, care and attention are useful. I've also made sure my daughter understands the value of helping others, so those values spread through the generations. Together we ran a pizza stall at her school fete to raise money for charity, and we even walk our local road clearing rubbish out of the culvert.
This election I'm focused on better public transport, cost of living, housing and local food production – and looking after the rural amenity and natural environment that drew so many of us here, including long-term planning for town water.
See you out there,
Anthony
