Hi, I'm Haru!
I'm a 22-year-old uni student and a lifelong Central Coast local – and I'm running as your Greens candidate for Central Coast Council.
I've lived almost my whole life here, first in Penguin and now in Ulverstone. Central Coast is my home and where I've grown up, and it holds a special place in my heart. I'm running to give young people a better voice in local politics and to make sure the Central Coast stays a place where people want to live.
My values are simple: be kind to everyone, be welcoming and encouraging, and help other people to have a happy life. We live in a place where everyone can have such different stories, and that range of experience is a great resource for our community – but we need to keep our spaces safe so that everyone feels confident to tell their story. Through my volunteer work with young people I've helped run activities that build confidence and teach people how to have their voices heard, and in the community groups I've been part of, I've loved bringing more people into those spaces.
This election I'm focused on making better use of our community assets, starting with our local parks. I want to see our bike paths and local bus stops improved, and I want to keep working to improve life for young people here.
Hope to see you on the campaign trail,
Haru
