Stephanie Kirkman Meikle

Candidate for Kingborough Council

Hi, I'm Stephanie!

I'm a healthcare leader, a not-for-profit advocate, and a proud Margate local – and I'm running as your Greens candidate for Kingborough Council.

I've spent my working life in healthcare and community organisations, focused on people who've been disadvantaged and overlooked. I've led charities tackling health and social inequality, worked alongside people experiencing homelessness, and supported people with sensory and physical disabilities. Right now, I volunteer with a team supporting people in palliative care – work that is humbling and that I feel genuinely privileged to be part of. I also serve on the Board of the Drug Education Network.

What drives me is a straightforward moral compass: first, do no harm – then let's make things better. I believe it only takes a few motivated people working together to create real change. It starts with saying yes, we can.

I live in Margate surrounded by this beautiful landscape, and I feel the responsibility that comes with that deeply. My kids are both grown up and I care deeply about the future world we are making for them. I’m ready to speak up on behalf of our communities and to focus on solutions.

This election I'm focused on protecting what makes this part of Tasmania so extraordinary – a clean, safe environment, sustainable and well-regulated industries, and a planning scheme that meets housing needs without sacrificing our natural environment. I also want to see serious attention to bushfire safety and genuine protection for our wildlife.

See you out there,
Stephanie
