Hi, I'm Zelinda!
I'm an educator, a community leader, and your Deputy Lord Mayor – and I'm running as your Greens candidate for Hobart City Council.
I came to Tasmania as an immigrant, having lived and worked overseas for many years – including teaching and lecturing in Japan. I built my life and career here, and this city has given me so much. That sense of belonging is something I want for everyone who calls Hobart home.
I was elected to Hobart City Council in 2018 and appointed Deputy Lord Mayor in 2024. In that time I've tried to bring thoughtful, evidence-based decision making to the chamber – on housing affordability, sustainable transport, planning, and protecting the environment that makes this city so extraordinary.
In 2025, I joined the Greens. It wasn't a decision I took lightly – it came after a period of real reflection. But the Greens are a party with courage and conviction, and their values match mine exactly. At a time when political discourse is becoming increasingly divisive, I believe we need leadership focused on the common good – leadership that brings people together rather than driving them apart.
Hobart deserves a city where everyone belongs, where our environment is protected, and where decisions are made with future generations in mind. That's what I'm here to fight for.
Hope to see you on the campaign trail,
Zelinda
