NSW Young Greens Contact Form

The NSW Young Greens (under 31s) aims to empower young people to actively engage with politics and activism through the Greens because it’s clear that young people are the future of the climate and social justice movement.

Unlike the youth wings of the old parties which act as a playground for ministers-in training, the Young Greens are committed to growing genuine grassroots  campaigns that centre the voices of young members in decision-making and leadership.

User agreement

A condition of entry to all Young Greens spaces
The following User Agreement applies to all privileged spaces and channels of communication of the NSW Young Greens, including the Organising and Discussion Facebook group, Loomio group, e-list, and any additional spaces controlled, organised or facilitated predominantly by the NSW Young Greens.

By entering the NSW Young Greens Organising & Discussion Facebook group, Loomio group, or any other privileged spaces or channels of communication of NSWYG, you are agreeing to the following rules:

1. I understand that violence, threats, harassment or abuse that is sexual, physical, verbal, or psychological will not be tolerated.

2. I acknowledge structural oppressions and disadvantages, which act to prevent the representation and empowerment of minority groups. I will aim to counter these structural oppressions through my interactions in this space by not being discriminatory or bigoted against oppressed minority groups, including but not limited to not being sexist, racist, islamophobic, transphobic, cissexist, queerphobic, intersexphobic, ableist, classist, religiously intolerant, or insensitive to trauma. I will aim, further, to view oppression through the lens of intersectionality, empowering myself to examine oppression in a manner that identifies the ways that interlocking systems of power impact those who are most marginalised in our society.

3. I will engage in this space in good faith and respect the right of other members to express themselves in a way that adheres to the User Agreement, even if I disagree with them. I do not condone any form of bullying, from myself or others.

4. I recognise that political debate can be robust and at times, confronting. I will endeavour to make a distinction between personal attacks and debating a point or topic, in the interests of healthy political discussion.

5. As a space that is primarily for political education, learning, and betterment, I understand that others will be at different stages of their political and educational development. I respect the right of others to learn and ask questions respectfully in Young Greens spaces.

6. If significant conflicts arise, I will contact an elected Grievance Officer, and will adhere to the Grievance Policy.

7. I will not share information or screenshots from Young Greens spaces with non-members of the NSW Young Greens, including but not limited to MPs or other un-associated Greens groups. I recognise that Young Greens spaces are autonomous from the wider Greens NSW and other Greens spaces, and that discussion and debates occurring in the group often do so because members feel safe in this environment. I understand that sharing information will jeopardise our commitment to Safer Spaces and may stifle debate.

8. I understand that I am here first and foremost as a NSWYG member. If I am presently or in the future a Greens councillor, a Greens MP, or employed by any Greens organisation or representative, I will engage in NSWYG spaces in good faith, first and foremost in the interests of the NSWYG.

9. I will bring to the attention of the group any conflict of interest or potential conflict of interest I may have with any proposal. I will abstain from voting on proposals with which I have a conflict or potential conflict of interest.

10. I understand that if I do not follow the above rules, I will be referred to a Grievance Officer and will follow an appropriate grievance process. I also understand that failure to follow the above rules risks expulsion from the NSWYG spaces and privileged channels of communication.
