The Greens NSW is comprised of 62 local groups across NSW. We currently have three Members of Parliament in the Upper House and three in the Lower House in NSW Parliament. In the Federal Parliament, we have ten Senators and one Lower House MP. There are over 70 Greens Councillor throughout NSW.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Newcastle Greens are seeking a Volunteer Coordinator for 8 weeks part time (21 – 28 hours/week) to contact, recruit and organise volunteers to participate in the 2022 Federal election campaign for Newcastle.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Volunteer Co-ordinator will work closely with the Campaign Co-ordinator to coordinate key events and help the raise the Greens’ profile.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Help implement the strategy of support for our Newcastle Greens Federal candidate, assist in managing volunteers and recruiting supporters to have hundreds of meaningful and persuasive conversations with voters.
- Depending on Covid-19 restrictions, identify, contact and recruit four doorknocking team leaders to lead doorknocking teams.
- Identify, contact and recruit as many team members for each doorknocking team as possible.
- Train team leaders to work effectively and cooperatively with volunteers.
- Identify ways to grow the volunteer pool, either online or through offline recruitment.
- Contact Newcastle Greens’ members and supporters to engage in the campaign (warm calling). Recruit volunteers for election campaign roles, particularly handing out how-to-vote cards on election day and staff pre-poll booths.
- Manage Newcastle Greens’ Nationbuilder customer relations database to support the above activities.
- Write an evaluation report at the end of your contract.
- Contribute to the objectives of the Newcastle Greens Election Campaign Committee.
- Other duties as directed.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
The Volunteer Co-ordinator must meet the following essential requirements:
- Proven experience in the recruitment and management of volunteer resources.
- Demonstrated commitment to the core principles of The Greens.
- Understanding of ethical behaviour and business practices, ensuring that own behaviour and the behaviour of others is consistent with these standards and aligns with the values of the Newcastle Greens.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective interpersonal relationships and work collaboratively and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization.
- Effective communication. Speaking, listening and writing in a clear, thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and technique.
- Relevant IT skills including the ability to effectively use email, Internet, Microsoft Office, Social Media and web-based applications.
- Essential: A current Working with Children Check or be able to obtain one within first month.
Note: Occasional evening and weekend work and travel within NSW will be required.
Successful candidates must not be a member of another political party.
PAY AND CONDITIONS
- Salary range: Administration Worker Step 6, $79,880.03 FTE p.a. + 10.5% superannuation.
- Primary Location: Newcastle Greens office, Hamilton, NSW.
- Hours: 21 hours per week, 5 hours per day, for 6 weeks increasing to 28 hours per week for the last 2 weeks of the campaign for a total of 182hrs (note that this may be adjusted depending on when the election is called).
- Status: Short term contract for 8 weeks
- Position begins: In the week beginning 27th March 2022
- Covered by: The Greens NSW Staff Collective Agreement.
