Abigail is a Greens MP in NSW Parliament campaigning for action on climate change, a progressive economy that serves the whole of society and a government that looks after our most vulnerable people.
As a successful lawyer working in global finance for over 20 years, I’ve seen what’s wrong with the system from the inside. Our economic and political structures have become dominated by the greedy and the powerful. This has led to soaring inequality and the ongoing destruction of our planet.
Big corporations must be held responsible for the harm they’ve caused and their contribution to the climate crisis. It’s time for a society that puts people ahead of corporations.
The direction we’re headed in isn’t sustainable. If we continue down this path, there will be fewer opportunities for our children.
Growing up my family faced difficulties, but we got the support we needed. Not everyone is as lucky - and stories like mine are increasingly rare. We need politicians who won’t leave behind the most vulnerable in our society. We must provide the vital public services that help all of us to thrive, regardless of our background or postcode.
It’s time to disrupt the status quo and create a future for all of us.
