Access to diverse and innovative artistic, musical, and cultural experiences should be available to all Territorians.
Territorian arts, culture and music should be protected, celebrated and promoted within the Territory, nationally and internationally.
First Nations artists and their work represent cultures and heritage which are unique to Australia and must be supported, respected and appropriately protected through legislation, policy and funding priorities.
First Nations cultural heritage including language, knowledge, rituals and stories must be recognised and preserved.
The NT Greens want NT music and arts to maintain their unique character through support and promotion of local content and the development of local projects for all forms of art and culture.
The NT Greens fully support the initiatives proposed by Music NT and commit to championing the Territory’s music industry and cultural heritage in the next NT Parliament.
Greens Candidate for Fannie Bay, Suki Dorras-Walker, has said:
“The NT Greens fully support the exciting and vibrant vision Music NT has for the Territory’s music industry. We want to see a Territory where music and the arts flourish and, if elected, I commit to championing this vision in the next Territory Parliament”
“The Culture Pass for Youth initiative brings much needed equity to the culture scene - allowing access for all youth. We know that the Territory is calling out for more youth services and ways of engaging our young people. This initiative is answering that call.”
“Bringing a strong music scene to the Territory will not only bring us entertainment, it will also help our local businesses, and offer opportunities for our young people to grow and thrive. I love the power music has to bring people together, it's one of our greatest cultural assets. We must ensure that it continues to thrive - that is why the NT Greens are getting behind Music NT’s election proposal.”
