Tabatha Badger for Senate

HELLO - I’M TABATHA BADGER, LYONS MP AND YOUR PROSPECTIVE NEXT SENATOR FOR TASMANIA.

Tasmania, the Greens (& Lyons) stand to benefit greatly from this generational opportunity to elevate the community networks and core issues that I have been working on at the state level to the Federal arena.

Having parliamentary experience of processes, committees, media pressure, extensive work travel, and the overall role of being an elected member, means I’ll be able to hit the ground running fighting for social and environmental justice. The lessons I’ve learnt along the way, how to leverage the role and cross party collaboration, would enable me to work effectively from the outset.

Having an exciting MP profile and community recognition will provide a solid foundation for voters at the next Federal election.
Beyond politics, I am an author, film-maker, and environmental campaigner with a Masters in Tourism, and have run businesses in land management and tourism/hospitality.

Personally, this is a terrific time in my life to take on the responsibility of a senate role; to head to Canberra and tackle state, national, and global issues from climate change to growing generational inequality - issues that will greatly impact my generation and those that follow.

While my surfing skills are inferior to Petes, alternately I bring a deep love of wild places, bushwalking, packrafting, and climbing mountains (@summitingsenator rebrand?).

What better time to secure a young regional Tasmanian Green voice, with an established statewide profile, to the Federal team; because this isn’t just a seat in parliament, this is a role to grow the future of the party, the next generation of our Green movement while being a trusted, strong voice for Tasmania’s people and wild places.
