The Victorian Greens are calling on the government to establish more free sexual health clinics.
We’re seeing cases of conditions like syphilis and mpox on the rise.
Without an expansion of treatment services and more support for diagnosis, the situation will only worsen.
The LGBTQIA+ community is overrepresented in these rising case numbers, and therefore the Victorian Government must deliver these services in a free and accessible way.
Here's the Challenge
Too many Victorians are facing barriers to accessing diagnosis, testing and treatment services, especially in rural and regional areas. This includes distance to accessing sexual health care, prohibitive costs and long wait times.
The Greens have made it clear that just like equality, access to free sexual health services is non-negotiable.
The Labor Government must ensure that everyone in the community who needs access to diagnosis, testing and treatment services can access these without cost or stigma.
The Greens want to see:
- an expansion of free, state-funded sexual health services in Victoria.
- true equality for all in our state's healthcare including accessible and free sexual health clinics, as well as ensuring access to abortion, trans and gender diverse healthcare, and contraceptive services.
- the elimination of stigma and discrimination from Victoria's sexual health services.
