Nasser Yawari

Candidate for Pakenham

I came to Australia as a refugee, and like so many in our multicultural communities, I’ve  worked hard to build a future while never forgetting where I came from.

Through my professional work, I’ve witnessed firsthand the struggles that vulnerable people  face, including unemployment, homelessness, and a lack of access to essential services.

In Pakenham the biggest challenges are clear, cost of living is getting more expensive by the day while the major parties continue to take millions of donations from billionaires and big corporations.

I’ve come to realise the lack of representation for marginalised communities in decision-making processes. For too long, decisions have been made without input from the people who are most affected by them, and it’s no wonder that so many feel disconnected from the political process.

We need fresh leadership from the community and leaders who reflect the diversity of their region. That’s the representative I aim to be.

Together, we can begin a new era for our community. An era where the voices of the marginalised are heard clearly and loudly in the halls of power.
