Donations Disclosure and Donation Cap Details

Political donations legislation in NSW is the strongest in the country because of campaigning by The Greens in Parliament and in the community.

The Greens NSW is committed to transparency, accountability and integrity in political fundraising. In addition to complying with electoral laws and disclosure requirements, we have adopted our own internal donation limits.

For our state election campaign, we accept donations up to the donation cap set by the NSW Electoral Commission, which is $8,500 for 2026/2027. This cap also applies to the local government campaign and other donations to The Greens NSW except for the Federal election campaign. For the federal election campaign, we accept donations up to a cap of $20,000 from an eligible donor in a financial year.

We believe voters have a right to know who is funding political parties and candidates before they vote. Therefore, we are committed to publishing our donations as we accept them.

Donations which total $1,000 or more in a financial year will be listed on the Greens NSW website, and donors may also be required to disclose these donations to the Electoral Commission.
