There’s a new proposal to build a massive gas-fired power station in the Southern Highlands Innovation Park, right between Moss Vale, Burradoo and New Berrima (near the Repoly site). The gas plant would power a data centre operating 24/7 and requiring 673 megawatts of power. That would make it the second largest gas-fired power plant in NSW. t's enough power for 600,000 homes - but because it belongs to the data centre, it won't turn on a single kitchen lightbulb. If it gets approved, this gas plant will encourage more heavy industry to Moss Vale and blast through our shire's commitment to transitioning away from fossil fuels.
