Police body-worn video, shared on social media, has been referred to the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC)by Greens MP Sue Higginson as evidence of misconduct by NSW Police Officers on the evening of 9 February 2026 following the violent police crackdown on protestors at Sydney Town Hall.
A male officer’s body worn camera footage captures him saying: “I fucking pumped that cunt”. A female officer replies, “so funny”. The male officer then says, “then I punched him in the head when he was down”. And the female officer laughs and says “I saw that”
Greens MP, solicitor and spokesperson for justice Sue Higginson said: “The police misconduct that I personally witnessed on 9 February at Town Hall was obscene, the impunity was something I have not ever seen before and I have no doubt it was the result of the Minns Labor Government suppressing protest with invalidly made laws. This footage shows the attitude of the police that night and should result in an immediate suspension and investigation of the officers involved,”
“The LECC is already investigating the actions of the Police that night, but this evidence warrants immediate action by the NSW Police. We must ensure the community is not exposed to an officer that has bragged about and laughed about punching a person in head after they had already been restrained and I have no doubt was then charged with an offence,”
“The Premier and the Minister for Police have repeatedly defended the actions of all Police at the Town Hall protest and denied the need for the LECC to investigate the police violence. This is the moment that they should recognise their wilful and unlawful suppression of protest on 9 February was wrong, and that all charges against the community from that night should be withdrawn,”
“This video is damning on the attitudes and actions of some specific and readily identifiable officers, this demands an immediate response, but it is also further evidence that police officers attacked the community at Town Hall and acted as though the Government of NSW had given them impunity from their own obligations to keep the community safe,” Ms Higginson said.
