Dushy De Silva

I’ve called Australia home since I was a teenager but as someone raised in Botswana in the '80s, on the doorstep of Apartheid South Africa my perspective has been shaped by the global struggle for justice, equality and basic human rights. This is also why I organise and stand in support of Palestine and against destructive war.

I believe access to safe housing, healthcare, and affordability are basic human rights. I believe meaningful action on climate change is essential and will help stabilise our struggling economy.

We have been let down and disappointed on many basic rights by the politics as it currently operates. Business as usual is failing us and we deserve better.

My message is simple: we must abandon the status quo. The Greens is the only organised party capable of acting outside of billionaire interference that can honestly serve the people.

I will fight to focus priorities back to the construction of affordable and social housing. I will fight to create more accessible, bulk-billed, everyday healthcare. I will oppose any new fossil fuel projects and push for greater energy security and affordability through renewable energy expansions.

I will also push for a moratorium on building new data centres. The case to rush these is weak and intentionally opaque. The electorate of Rockdale does not need data centres in our backyard!

Together, we can build a fairer state where opportunity is equal, justice is universal and policy is driven by constituents, not corporations or billionaires. It is time to hold power accountable and  deliver real change in NSW.

You deserve a representative who sees you, hears you, and refuses to be bought. I will not only fight to improve the everyday cost of living pressures on you but also ensure the institutions that serve you actually do that effectively.

This is why I’m asking for your vote.
