I’m Kit Docker, your Greens candidate for Keira at the NSW state election on 13 March 2027.
I’ve lived in the Illawarra for most of my life. It’s where I grew up, studied and worked, and where I now serve as a Wollongong City Councillor.
I was raised by a single mum, and from a young age I was acutely aware of the financial pressure and uncertainty that so many families in our community live with.
We were renters, and I understood early on what it meant to have something as essential as a roof over your head largely in the hands of someone else. Staying put was never guaranteed. I watched my mum work hard to cover the rent and food, one fortnight to the next.
Those experiences shaped how I understand inequality and are what drew me into politics. I believe the government's job is to deliver for the communities it serves: improving people’s lives, reducing inequality and making sure everyone has the chance to live a secure and fulfilling life, whatever their background or circumstances.

I graduated from the University of Wollongong, majoring in international economics. I went on to work in banking and finance, including locally as a branch manager, and now in disability support.
In 2024, I was elected to Wollongong City Council, where I’ve had the privilege of putting my values & experience into practice. On Council, I’ve:
Secured greater support and collaboration between Council and frontline homelessness services.
Led efforts for a disability advisory body, so the lived experiences of people with disability are represented in Council decisions.
Advocated for stronger urban greening policies to protect our green spaces, increase biodiversity and make our city more liveable.
There is so much more we can achieve for our community, but we need a state government willing to match that ambition.
Our healthcare workers do extraordinary work, yet they're being asked to deliver more and more in hospitals and health services that are already stretched to their limits.
Our region continues to grow, but investment in public transport isn't keeping pace, leaving too many people without a reliable, accessible alternative to the rising cost of owning and running a car.
These are some of the biggest challenges facing our community, and I believe the Minns Labor Government simply isn't doing enough to address them.
And while property developers benefit from NSW Government height and density bonuses, our communities aren’t seeing a fair return in the infrastructure, affordable and key worker housing that we desperately need.
I first ran for Keira in 2023. Since then I’ve been elected to Council, and I’m running again to build on that work and continue advocating for a fairer, more affordable and sustainable future for our region.
Our community deserves more than incremental change. We deserve a government willing to tackle the challenges we all face and make the investments needed to improve people’s lives, now and for generations to come.
