I am a lifelong surfer, cyclist and bushcare volunteer, as well as a passionate supporter of First Australians and renewable energy.

During nearly three decades as a multiplatform journalist and newsreader with ABC Regional, I built strong connections with local communities and developed a deep understanding of local issues.

I have lived in the northern Illawarra since 1998, surfing local beaches and swimming the coastal pools. I am committed to keeping our oceans clean and safe for all to enjoy while protecting sea life.

Living at the foot of the Illawarra escarpment has strengthened my commitment to protecting local bushland. I help cultivate native plant species, and I support phasing out native forest logging in favour of plantation forestry.

As a cyclist, I support improving our fragmented cycleway and footpath networks. The construction timetable for the Grand Pacific Walk between the Royal National Park and Lake Illawarra is too slow. Finishing the missing sections should be a priority.

During my lifetime I have seen the ski seasons become shorter with less snow falling. I have felt the ocean warm and seen the increasing ferocity of bushfires and storms as the climate heats up.

That’s why I want to help dramatically slow human-induced climate change by phasing out coal and gas and accelerating the transition to proven electrification technologies.

I want more people - including renters and public housing tenants – to benefit from affordable household solar and batteries that lower energy costs.

Bringing down the cost of living is a priority. That’s why I support Greens plans to cap rents and build more public housing, funded by higher taxes on the largest corporations. Many large corporations pay no company tax in Australia, leaving households that can least afford it carrying more of the burden.

The Greens will expand public transport services and make them free, giving people a more affordable and accessible alternative to driving. I also support Greens plans to make healthcare more affordable by establishing community health centres where dental and mental healthcare are core services, not optional extras.

I want our region to thrive with a strong local identity built on productive work, innovation and social cohesion, while preserving our unique coastal environment for generations to come.
