Hi, I’m Rhiannon. I believe everyone deserves a home where they feel safe and a community where they can thrive, which is why I’m proud to represent the Greens in the seat of Gosford.
As a wildlife biologist, I’ve spent years understanding the unique, beautiful creatures of this country and how they evolved – and I’ve watched as successive governments have refused to listen to the science and act on the climate and extinction crises.
Now, as our housing and healthcare systems are at risk of collapse, Labor, the Liberals and One Nation are ignoring these crises too and protecting their mates in big business instead.
When I moved to the Central Coast three years ago, I knew this special place would become my home. Not only are we blessed with some of the most beautiful landscapes anywhere in the world, but there is such a strong sense of community. People are laid-back, welcoming, and look after each other.
But at the same time, people are hurting, and a lot of us are scared. Renters are stuck living in mouldy granny flats, praying they aren’t hit with another rent increase. Disability services are being cut, and no-one knows if they’ll be next. And all the while, food, petrol and healthcare just keep getting more expensive.
Decades of neglect by the major parties is what has brought us here, and now they would have us believe there is nothing to be done. They would prefer us to turn on each other and blame the most vulnerable people in our community for their own failures.
The reality is the solutions are simple, and we know what they are – we just have to care enough to implement them.
With your support, the Greens are fighting to make housing affordable and accessible for everyone; deliver free, universal healthcare from the suburbs to the bush; and tackle the climate and extinction crises to build a better world for all of us.
