Hi, I’m Simon Cooper and I’m excited to announce that I’ll be the Greens candidate for the NSW State Election in The Entrance.
I’ve decided to stand because I believe NSW Parliament can and must do more to make our communities fairer, more affordable and better places to live. In a state as wealthy as NSW, we should all be able to build a decent life, without losing the roof over our heads or having to skip the dentist when we need one.
I am proud to be standing for the Greens. We have an optimistic vision for positive change, based on our commitment to putting people and the planet before profit and self-interest.
Like many who have witnessed disadvantage and experienced vulnerability, I am fiercely passionate about justice and believe that everyone deserves to build a decent life. While I am currently fortunate to own my home in The Entrance electorate, I have faced the harsh realities of the rental market, including periods of homelessness. The experience has given me a deep understanding of the devastating effect of housing insecurity. My background is in the arts, education and community activism, and my current role involves supporting individuals who have encountered barriers to further education.
With your support, the Greens will cap rents, slash energy bills, make public transport free, and protect our precious native forests, making a better future possible for everyone in NSW.
Over the coming months, I’m looking forward to meeting people across The Entrance, listening to what matters to our community and taking the Greens’ positive vision for NSW to the election.
