Stand with us in protecting our iconic Adelaide Park Lands.

The Adelaide Park Lands are an open green space for all South Australians to enjoy, yet the Malinauskas Labor Government have treated them as a play-thing for their pet projects.

Over the last 4 years, we have seen unprecedented attacks on our Park Lands – from the relocation of the Police Barracks to the fast-tracking of legislation to ride roughshod over the city Council and axe hundreds of trees for a golf course redevelopment.

Sadly the fight isn’t over,

Despite community backlash, the Malinauskas Government is now pushing to redevelop Victoria Park to accommodate MotoGP. The proposed circuit will measure nearly a kilometre more than the current track, and could include even more infrastructure, including sheds and grandstands. Construction could begin later this year with even more trees on the chopping block.

We know that 2027 is set to be one of the hottest years on record globally and locally. We also know that our green spaces combat the urban heat effects of climate change and provide an essential safe haven for wildlife as well as people. 

We need to protect the Adelaide Park Lands from further destruction to ensure it is a free and accessible green space for generations of people to come. 

The Greens are fighting to:

  • Stop the Planning Minister from unilaterally rezoning green space without approval from both houses of the South Australian Parliament.

  • Oppose the expansion of the Adelaide Supercars and MotoGP and seek full transparency about what the full costs and the Government’s plans

  • Add the Park Lands to the State Heritage Register

  • Place a moratorium on the destruction of trees in Possum Park

  • Ensure appropriate protection for significant trees and regulated trees.

  • Stop a permanent Grandstand on Victoria Park for MotoGP
