It’s forcing millions of people to choose between food on the table, paying rent, and seeing a doctor when they need it.
The average out of pocket cost to see a GP is now over $40 – on top of skyrocketing rents, groceries, petrol and other bills.
It’s no wonder that more than 1 million Australians delay or forego GP appointments each year due to cost.
No one should have to skip out on seeing a health professional when they need it.
Neither of the major parties will make the change we need. Both have overseen massive increases in out-of-pocket costs to see the GP.
Meanwhile, the current Labor Government cut subsidised psychologist sessions. Now 1-in-4 who need to see one avoid it because of the cost.
It's clear: we can't keep voting for the same two parties and expecting a different result.

OUR PLAN FOR ACCESSIBLE & QUALITY HEALTHCARE
- Support a return to bulk-billed GP appointments, triple the bulk-billing incentive for Medicare card holders.
- Establish 1,000 free public healthcare clinics, allow people to see a GP, dentist, nurse or psychologist at no cost.
- Make dental healthcare free under Medicare.
- Make mental health sessions unlimited under Medicare, remove the cap on subsidised sessions.
- Pay GP trainees equally to hospital trainees.
We’ll pay for it by making big corporations pay their fair share of tax – ensuring you can see a GP, dentist, nurse or psychologist with no out of pocket costs at a local public healthcare clinic.
