The Greens SA are founded upon four pillars: ecological sustainability, grassroots democracy, social justice and peace and non-violence. We are the third force in Australian politics and have representatives at all levels of government across the country. The Greens SA are hiring a staff member to lead our key seat organising efforts during the upcoming State Election.

About the Role

We’re looking for someone passionate, organised and experienced to join The Greens SA team as the State Election Engagement Officer. The successful applicant will work directly under the Party Director to recruit, engage, and train Greens SA members, volunteers, and supporters.

The State Election Engagement Officer will grow our volunteer movement and be instrumental in coordinating recruitment and engagement activities throughout the State Election campaign. They will provide leadership and campaign training for our members, volunteers and candidates ensuring we are ‘election ready’. This is an exciting role for a passionate and driven people-person who wants to grow our Greens movement. It is imperative that the successful applicant be skilled in building supportive and productive relationships.

Conditions

Salary: Between Level 3.3 and Level 4.1 of the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award, subject to skills and experience (currently between $74,732 and $85,120).

Workload: 0.8 FTE to full time, subject to negotiation.

Duration: The position will be offered on a fixed-term contract ending on 5 April 2026.

Start date: 28 July 2025.

Reports to: Party Director.

Primary responsibilities

▲ Plan, organise and run events in collaboration with Greens SA staff and Greens MPs offices

▲ Develop and deliver training programs that upskill members, volunteers and candidates.

▲ Provide support to and maintain positive relationships with candidates, volunteer leaders and branches.

▲ Develop a strategy to recruit and activate a broad volunteer base, including identifying and supporting the development of volunteer leaders.

▲ Assist the communications requirements of the election campaign. This may include preparing written materials relevant to events, drafting design briefs, socials media posts, website copy and emails.

▲ Other duties as directed.

General requirements

▲ Work in accordance with Greens SA Charter, Constitution and Code of Conduct.

▲ You must hold, or be prepared to acquire, a Working With Children Check.

▲ The ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings at times, is essential to this role.

Required

▲ Understanding of and commitment to the Greens SA principles and policies and a commitment to making positive change.

▲ Great with people, able to work well in a small team, as well as to influence and motivate others and manage.

▲ Highly developed project management and organisation skills, including the ability to juggle numerous tasks and prioritise based on urgency, with a high level of independence.

▲ Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

▲ Experience organising and running events.

▲ Demonstrated experience in delivering training or developing skills in others.

▲ Experience leading and managing volunteers, including an ability to influence and motivate.

Desirable

▲ Experience working in politics or advocacy, and a sound understanding of campaign strategy and tactics.

▲ An understanding of the South Australian political landscape.

▲ Experience delivering field campaign tactics such as door-knocking, phone-banking and community events.

▲ Experience using Greens systems like Civi, Rocket, or gVIRS, or experience with a similar CRM in your work or volunteering role.
