Senator Robert Simms is addressing a forum hosted by SACOSS, Shelter SA, Community Housing Council SA and Homelessness SA, focusing on issues of significance for the South Australian health and community services sector. The forum will have a special focus on affordable housing and homelessness.
There is mounting concern about the uncertainty of homelessness funding provided under the National Partnership Agreement on Homelessness (NPAH), which has no assurances from the federal government regarding funding beyond the middle of next year (2017).
Attendance at this forum is vital for housing affordability and the future of the homelessness sector, but it is also highly relevant for all community sector workers.
The forum includes:
Hon Mark Butler MP - Australian Labor Party;Senator Robert Simms - Australian Greens;Senator Bob Day AO - Family First;Senator Nick Xenophon - former Independent Senator and leader of The X Team;and a representative TBC from the Liberal/National Coalition. This is your opportunity to show your federal representatives that homelessness is a major election issue that needs secure funding assurances into the future.
The forum is your chance to hear representatives from all parties address policy issues as well as take questions from the floor on topics of significance for you.
