Federal Government should rule out Labor's nuclear plan

2015-11-03

The Australian Greens are alarmed by Minister Greg Hunt's suggestion that SA could become a site for nuclear power generation and waste storage and have called on the Minister to rule it out.

"SA Labor risk trashing South Australia's brand as a clean and green state with their nuclear vision. We are building a reputation for healthy living and quality local food production. Going nuclear would cast a long shadow over that," South Australian Greens Senator, Robert Simms said.

The Environment Minister should put an end to the matter and instead support SA in creating new jobs in renewables. The last thing we want to see is SA becoming our nation's nuclear waste dump."
