The Greens’ campaign for the state seat of Heysen at the March 2018 election is now picking up pace following the announcement by Liberal Member, Isobel Redmond, that she will retire at the next election, according to State Parliamentary Leader, Mark Parnell MLC.
“Heysen is Greens’ heartland and at the last state election, the two-party preferred count was between Greens and Liberals, with the Green candidate finishing second, ahead of Labor.
“With the retirement of a long-standing MP the voters of Heysen need to elect a new Member and the Greens will be working hard to show the community we are standing up for what matters to them. The Greens would be proud to represent the people of Heysen in the State Parliament.”
“The voters of Heysen have consistently supported Greens’ policies. Voters are particularly attracted to our progressive environmental and social policies.”
Pre-selection for the Greens’ strongest state lower house seat is underway.
“I would like to thank Isobel Redmond for her service to the electorate and to South Australia over the last 15 years and wish her well for the future”, concluded Mark Parnell.
