Greens stand with students to fight harsh uni cuts

2017-08-08

The Australian Greens stand in solidarity with students protesting around the country today against the government's harsh university cuts.

"This government's attacks on students will not go unnoticed and will not go unchallenged," Greens higher education spokesperson Senator Sarah Hanson-Young said.

"The Greens stand in solidarity with students protesting against these cruel and unnecessary cuts. These harsh cuts will price young people out of an education and make it harder for them to repay their uni loans.

“Following billions of dollars of cuts in recent years, it’s clear our so-called ‘Innovation Prime Minister’ Malcolm Turnbull has no interest in investing in future generations or the nation. This unjustified attack on students just goes to show that the government has it in for young people.

"The Australian Greens will continue to represent them in the parliament by blocking these ludicrous cuts."
