Hi, I’m Genevieve Dawson-Scott,
I am standing with the Greens because I believe in a better future for all children. I see the Greens policies as a source of hope; a hope for integrity and transparency in politics, hope for bold, brave changes to make our country and communities fairer, and real environmental action.
I am a mother, an artist and a marriage celebrant. I also work in early childhood education and community events. I have had the joy of marrying couples all around South Australia, and so have a great appreciation for the natural beauty of Kangaroo Island and the Fleurieu Peninsula.
My partner and I travelled to Kangaroo Island after the bushfires of 2019-2020 to help rebuild burnt fences, and I have seen the devastation and community resilience first hand.
I spent much of my teenage years in the Adelaide Hills, and have now returned from living interstate to rent a home in Bridgewater with my young family.
I have spent the majority of the last decade working with young children and families. I now run a hills based community Kindergym and meet families every week who are struggling to cope with the cost of childcare, living and housing while raising small children.
I will be a voice for my community, for those who are afraid of the changing climate and are looking for considered and caring leadership.
I’ve lost many friends to struggles with mental health, so an issue close to my heart is bringing mental health care into Medicare, along with dental care. The greens continue to fight for this, to fight for free access to GPs, and to address a huge contributor to poor mental health; the housing crisis.
