Hi, I'm Mike Trewartha
I’m running for Gibson because our community deserves a future where housing is a right, our coastlines are protected, and big-money interests no longer dictate South Australian politics. We can do better than a status quo that puts corporate profits ahead of people.
While I have called this area home for four years, my connection to this coast goes back to my childhood. Now, raising my own boys in Warradale, I want them to inherit a community that is stable and fair. Gibson is a beautiful blend of coastal and suburban life, but local families are feeling the squeeze. I see the same thing my neighbors see: grocery and power bills that are out of control while big corporations look the other way. I’m standing to ensure we have a strong, independent voice fighting for a liveable future.
Professionally, I am a Senior Incident Response Consultant. With 20 years in the tech industry from small family-run ISPs to "Big 4" risk consultancy, I have spent my career solving high-stakes problems under pressure. This experience has made me a fierce advocate for digital rights. I believe privacy is a fundamental human right, and I will fight to see it protected under a South Australian Human Rights Act.
The major parties are stuck in a holding pattern of legacy politics designed to prioritize donors over people. My career has taught me the importance of transparency and evidence-based action. I don't just talk about crises; I respond to them. I don’t answer to big business; I answer to you. I will bring a modern, tech-literate perspective to Parliament to fight for our climate, our digital freedoms, and a fair go for all.
