Miya Tait

Candidate for Reynell

Hi, I’m Miya Tait

I’m proud to be your Greens candidate for Reynell. I’m running because I see many communities disadvantaged by our current system, and the major parties aren’t addressing the issues.

Growing up living with a single mother on a disability pension, I’ve seen first hand how people struggle to make ends meet on centrelink. The major parties won't take proper steps towards ending poverty, despite overwhelming evidence demonstrating that it’s cheaper than managing its ongoing effects.

Labor has refused to adequately fund research into algal bloom and has shown that they care more about their image than actually addressing the issue.

As a proud transgender woman, I’ve seen and personally experienced the very long waits in our public gender clinics putting massive pressure on our systems and worsening young trans and gender diverse mental health.

Being a Disability Support Worker and soon to be University Student with a unique life experience, I’m able to passionately connect to many issues which aren’t sufficiently represented by our current government.

With far right movements on the rise, and major parties doing little about it, the Greens pose a great alternative where community concerns are prioritised over corporate interests.
