”I have served on the City of Ballarat Council since 2012. I care about creating a more environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive Ballarat.”
Belinda grew up in Ballarat, raised her son here and lives in Central Ballarat with her partner. She has worked locally as a social worker for over 20 years in the areas of health, trauma counselling, public service and tertiary education. She became involved in politics out of a concern for the welfare of people in her community as well as the long-term wellbeing of our environment.
As a Ballarat City Councillor Belinda has advocated for Ballarat to become a ‘Greener, more vibrant and better connected’ city, a Refugee Welcome Zone, a Child Friendly city and a more inclusive place to live. In this time she has produced a number of significant achievements including:

Gaining council commitments to Sustainable and Active Transport, Clean Ballarat initiatives including green waste, solar panel retrofitting of council buildings;

a Live Music Strategy;

Supporting survivors of child sexual abuse on a visit to Rome to hear evidence for Royal Commission hearings;

An inclusive and accessible regional Playspace facility;

saving Black Hill Pool;

Ensuring Civic Hall remains open for community use; and

Advocating for Ballarat to be a preferred settlement destination for migrants and refugees.
Belinda has a proven track record of putting into practice the principles and values of the Australian Greens, and knows how to “think global and act local.” She will continue to strive for positive action on environmental sustainability and community wellbeing, while continuing her commitments to transparency, accountability and integrity to her work as a councillor.
