Courtney May

Candidate for Darebin City Council - Central Ward

Hi, I'm Courtney

I’m a proud resident of Preston, an advocate for social and environmental justice and I’ve worked in the international development, climate action and renewable energy sectors for the last eight years.

I love the vibrant community that exists here in Darebin and am passionate about working to ensure that no one is left behind.

Like many Central Ward residents, I connect strongly to the sense of community that the Preston Market creates. Council must advocate for a solution that meets traders’ needs and supports their ability to continue trading.

Many people in our community are struggling with the cost of living crisis. We need to support people with better public transport, protecting the Darebin Creek and other green spaces, better playgrounds, support community gardens and local businesses so our shopping areas remain vibrant and colourful.

As Darebin’s population grows, we need investment in infrastructure, schools, public transport, open spaces and social housing. I will also advocate for better waste management, local energy programs that address cost of living pressures, and affordable housing.

Together, let’s build a sustainable and inclusive Darebin community for all.
