Gabrielle Salkowski

Ballarat City Council - Delacombe Ward

HI I'M Gabrielle.

I’m a Redan mum of two and dedicated community services worker who fell in love and moved to Ballarat in 2017. Since settling here I have played local footy and netball, volunteered for L2P and ParkRun and worked at headspace and in school wellbeing.

Insecurity around food, housing and employment are genuine concerns within my family and I know these issues are affecting so many within Redan, Sebastopol, Winter Valley, Newington and Alfredton. It’s not good enough.
My vision for Ballarat is one where kids can walk and ride everywhere safely, where our great libraries have long opening hours and where young people have plenty of free activities and spaces to keep them busy and safe.

I want to help Ballarat swap our reputation for severe family violence for one of community safety and resilience. I want to see families break out of poverty through secure housing, employment and local opportunities.

I believe council can do more to advocate for improved public transport servicing of our area and that with strong leadership we can make Ballarat an accessible and safe community for everyone.
