Theresa Slater

Candidate for Lara

This is an image of Theresa, who smiles at the camera in a park environment that is blurred behind her. Her long auburn-coloured hair is tied up in a ponytail with a teal coloured scrunchie and she wears a green floral sundress under a beige cardigan. There is a long pendant around her neck, hoops in both her ears and she wears a pair of square, purple frames.

I’m a local mum and social worker, who grew up in the area and now rents locally. I’m passionate about our community and will be a strong voice for those who are vulnerable in our community–whether they’re facing housing insecurity, a lack of access to essential services or want to see real action on climate change.

Through my role in social work I’ve gained experience in policy and advocacy, recognising the needs of individuals, families and broader groups across our region. I understand how important it is to listen to and work collaboratively with members of the community to actually create change.

We need representatives that actually listen to the Lara community. We’re building a grassroots campaign that listens to you and advocates for real action on housing, healthcare and our precious environment.
