The ACT Greens have a vision for a robust, fair and inclusive democracy. The Greens want more citizen participation in our democracy, and have a clear plan for supporting Canberrans and their local communities to engage with and provide input into policy developing, budgeting and parliamentary processes.
Today, we’re releasing our vision for making this happen, including direct democracy mechanisms for petitions and proposals to be debated, public input into budgeting, a better system for facilitating community protests and transparency around lobbyists, clearer and more transparent access to government information, and more funding for the Legislative Assembly committee system for better oversight of our politicians.
