ACT Greens MLA Jo Clay will today call on the ACT Government to support development of a faster rail connection between Canberra and Sydney.
“Canberrans want better regional rail connections from the ACT to Sydney and the rest of NSW,” said Jo Clay, ACT Greens Spokesperson for Transport.
“Rail is a key transport mode for a sustainable Canberra and we need to give people more low emissions options such as rail, instead of flying or driving.
“Former Liberal Federal and NSW Governments were largely unwilling to progress much needed improvements to the Canberra to Sydney rail corridor.
“Now that there have been changes to the Australian and NSW Government we have a real opportunity to progress long awaited upgrades to the Canberra-Sydney rail line.
“I’m calling on the ACT Government to support the development of a faster rail connection and work with the NSW and Australian governments to get this stalled project back on track,” said Ms Clay.
