Meredith Hunter is a former member of the ACT Legislative Assembly representing the electorate of Ginninderra.
Educated at the Australian National University, Meredith worked as a youth worker and went on to become a prominent youth affairs advocate. She was the director of the Youth Coalition of the ACT and held executive positions with numerous peak bodies including the Australian Youth Affairs Coalition and National Shelter.
Meredith was also a vocal advocate for community sector viability and social welfare issues, serving on the board of the ACT Council of Social Service and as chairwoman of ACT Shelter. She also worked as an adjunct professional associate at the University of Canberra.
Meredith ran unsuccessfully in both the 2004 ACT election and the 2007 federal election. In 2008, she ran again in the ACT election for the electorate of Ginninderra and won. She was appointed parliamentary convenor of the ACT Greens, a role equivalent to that of a party leader, before narrowly losing her seat at the 2012 ACT election.
