Victoria’s laws are failing wildlife. Labor knows it and chooses to do nothing.

It’s been 50 YEARS since Victoria’s Wildlife Act was updated. Our nature laws are older than VHS tapes and Walkmans!

These laws are supposed to protect native wildlife and endangered species, but right now, they’re failing to stop developers from being able to destroy critical habitat and ecosystems for their own profit.

Just last year, critically endangered grassland in Victoria’s west was bulldozed by private developers. Labor had promised to buy and protect this land back in 2009, but didn’t. Now it’s gone forever, and at most, developers can expect a slap on the wrist as they wait to make millions in profit.

Funding for national parks in our state is at a record low, and despite being banned in other states decades ago, Labor still lets duck shooting continue in Victoria’s wetlands.

Victoria’s wildlife and ecosystems are on the brink. Labor’s refusal to act is a deliberate choice, and it’s one we can’t afford.

Three years ago, an expert panel reviewed Victoria’s Wildlife Act, but Labor refused to respond to their report or even make it public. What are they trying to keep hidden?

Sign the petition to demand Labor fix our broken nature laws and stop letting developers destroy critical ecosystems for profit.
