We all deserve to feel safe in our homes.
But catastrophic bushfires have just ripped through our state for the second time in 5 years. Families have lost everything, entire towns have been destroyed, and hundreds of thousands of acres of wildlife habitat has burned.
While fires continue to burn, ‘tsunami-like’ flash floods have seen people trapped and cars swept out to sea along Victoria’s Great Ocean Road.
This is the climate crisis. And if governments continue to prioritise fossil fuel profits over people’s safety, it will get worse.
Labor in Victoria continues to allow coal and gas corporations like Woodside, BHP and Exxon to expand – burning more fossil fuels for obscene profits, fuelling more frequent and severe climate disasters, and leaving Victorians to pay the price. It doesn’t have to be this way.
We can stop new fossil fuel projects and make big climate polluters pay for the damage they cause.
