Free public transport is saving Victorians $220 a month, while petrol prices continue to skyrocket.
Thousands of Victorians are enjoying getting around our state without worrying about how they’re going to pay for it.
But even though the fuel crisis is getting worse, Jacinta Allan’s Labor government is cutting off free PT at the end of May.
The Greens will make public transport permanently free. Melbourne could be the first major city in the world to offer buses, trams, and trains at zero cost. Just walk on and walk off.
We’ll pay for it by taxing big corporations, who have been getting a free ride from Labor for decades.
We’ll also improve the network to make services more frequent, so you can get where you’re going without waiting around.
This would:
- Put money back in your pocket
- Make PT stress-free: no need to worry about touching on or keeping an eye out for ticket inspectors
- Take pressure off rising petrol prices by giving people transport alternatives
- Cut emissions with climate-friendly travel
We don’t have long before Labor brings back fares!
We know Labor won't take action without Greens and community pressure. Add your voice to the call for free public transport now. Every signature counts.
Public transport that's permanently free – and frequent. Let's make it happen.
