Protect Victoria's wildlife and end extinction

Our state is home to unique birds, animals, plants and ecosystems found nowhere else in the world. Our native species are under more pressure than ever. We have a plan to protect them and create meaningful jobs.

The walert/Leadbeater’s possum, the helmeted honeyeater and the brush-tailed rock wallaby are just some of Victoria’s unique wildlife who rely on healthy forests, rivers and bushland for their home.

For generations, we’ve paid people to clear land and cut down forests, killing wildlife and destroying habitat. In 2020, Victoria’s wildlife is under more pressure than ever, from non-native weeds and animals, worsening climate change, droughts and bushfires.

We all need a healthy world to thrive, and we could create thousands of jobs protecting and restoring nature and threatened species. It’s time to stop destroying forests and habitat for corporate profit, and instead create jobs looking after people and the environment as part of a Green New Deal for Victoria

As part of this vision, we’re calling for:

  • Thousands of jobs clearing weeds and managing introduced animals
  • A workforce of people to plant trees, regenerate bushfire-affected forest and restore habitat for native species
  • Dedicating funding for research and action to protect and revive species facing extinction
  • An end to native forest logging and stronger environmental laws

Let’s build a better ‘normal’ and a future for all of us - people, animals and the environment.
