The Victorian Greens are seeking an experienced Communications and Fundraising Manager to lead our strategic communications and fundraising work for the 2026 State Election.

Level 5 ($87,366) plus superannuation

Australian Greens State Office, Melbourne CBD, with some work from home available by negotiation

About this role

This role is responsible for ensuring our communications, digital content, advertising and fundraising programs are strategic, coordinated and effective. You will coach and support candidates, campaigns and staff to communicate clearly, compellingly and in line with Greens values, while delivering the fundraising required to power a people-powered election campaign.

This role would also be suitable for someone who is stepping into a manager position for the first time, or who is strong in either fundraising or communications but is ready to strengthen their strategic skills in the other area. You will work closely with senior campaign staff, Victorian Greens MPs, candidates, volunteers and the Australian Greens national team to maximise impact, manage risk and build a strong, values-aligned fundraising and communications program.

Position description

Leadership and coordination

  • Lead the communications and fundraising team, fostering collaboration, accountability and wellbeing in a high-pressure campaign environment
  • Coordinate communications and fundraising workstreams across state, local and national teams to ensure alignment and maximise opportunities for
  • Manage workflows, timelines and priorities to deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines

Strategic communications

  • Deliver or delegate campaign communications, including media, advertising, digital content and supporter communications
  • Coach candidates and campaign teams to deliver clear, disciplined and strategic messaging
  • Support media planning, copywriting, editing and content adaptation across platforms and audiences
  • Ensure strong processes for approvals, sign-off and risk management

Fundraising strategy and delivery

  • Lead Victorian Greens fundraising strategy for the State Election, in collaboration with senior staff and the Australian Greens national fundraising team
  • Deliver effective mass fundraising campaigns (email, digital, reactive appeals)
  • Support relationship-based fundraising, including major donors, special purpose donor programs and organising donor events
  • Oversee fundraising administration, reporting and compliance with VEC and AEC requirements

Training and capability-building

  • Develop and deliver training, resources and coaching for candidates, branches and volunteers on communications and fundraising
  • Support local campaigns to build confidence, skills and sustainable systems locally, including understanding reporting and compliance requirements


Key selection criteria

  • Values alignment: Commitment to the Greens policies, charter and core values - ecological sustainability, grassroots participatory democracy, social justice and peace and non-violence - and a passion for our movement.
  • Strategic communications: Communication skills, especially media liaison, copywriting, editing and adapting content for different audiences and platforms
  • Digital communications: Demonstrated experience using social media, mass email tools, and basic web content management.
  • Fundraising: Experience in mass communications and relationship fundraising
  • Team work/rapport building skills: Experience in working in or leading various teams, especially working well with others in a busy and ever-changing environment.
  • Outcomes-driven: Demonstrated experience in solving problems, meeting goals and achieving results under time pressure.
  • Judgement: Commitment to discretion, confidentiality and sound political judgement.

Bonus points for

  • Lived experience or connections to First Nations justice, racial justice, LGBTQIA+ justice, disability justice or gendered justice movements.
  • Team management experience: 
  • Training delivery experience: Demonstrated experience in developing training resources, guides and materials as well as delivering volunteer training events.
  • Working with volunteers: Experience in a volunteer- or member-led organisation
