About this role
Are you passionate about community organising and building power? Do you enjoy campaign strategy and volunteer leadership development? We’re looking for an experienced organiser to join our team ahead of the upcoming state election. As a Movement Organiser, you’ll be working with our State Office team across the priority campaign areas to maintain their momentum from the federal election and build new leaders and organisers to win big at the state election.
You will support our movement by coaching and training volunteer leaders in priority seats to grow their volunteer base and have thousands of meaningful conversations. You will be supporting local leaders to implement four key elements of our election campaign; (a) volunteer recruitment and activation, (b) voter contact coordination, (c) leadership development, and (d) training. As the campaign progresses, further staff may be hired as electorate-specific organisers.
This isn’t your average job: you’ll often work weekends and evenings instead of weekdays, and you’ll need to be self-motivated and flexible – but you’ll meet amazing Greens members from all walks of life, and make a real difference growing the political party that stands up for what matters. If you enjoy working with people and are passionate about building a progressive future, you’ll love this job.
The next state election will be held in November 2026. This election presents a crucial opportunity to retain key Greens seats and expand our power in the lower house. This role will work through until the end of the election working on our organising and field campaigns across the target seats.
Position description
In this role you will:
- Identify and develop leaders: Identify and step up local volunteer leaders to take on key positions in our branches and campaign teams, and coach and train them in organising theory and campaign tactics to implement our campaign goals.
- Build our movement: Support local volunteer leadership teams to expand the reach of our party, allowing us to grow our movement and bring in new members and volunteers.
- Facilitate local strategy development: Work with local volunteer teams to develop community and electoral organising strategies that integrate into our campaign and field plans.
- Support and implement voter contact: Support and coach local volunteer teams to implement the voter contact strategy including supporting voter and volunteer calling parties, door knocking events and data management and other key tactics.
- Event management: Work with other campaign staff with the organisation of large events like campaign launches, community forums and other recruitment events.
- Manage and report on campaign data: Initially lead on ensuring campaign supporter and voter data is kept up to date and secure and provide regular progress reports regarding key KPIs across target seats.
- Other work as needed: as a part of a small, agile team, you will be asked to contribute to other work from time-to-time, always with the support of experienced staff

- Strong leadership and persuasive communication skills: You’ll be able to inspire people to understand the possibilities of people-powered change and community organising.

- Outstanding organisational skills: experience in managing people and logistics to tight deadlines, you thrive in a fast paced environment.
- Experience applying best practice field campaigning techniques: from campaigning infrastructure systems (such as CRM’s and rostering tools) to organising strategies, to electoral and demographic data analysis and data driven campaigning.
