Our achievements
In the last four years, Clare Davey, our Greens Councilor in Glen Eira, has achieved some incredible things. Here’s just some of the changes she led the way on achieving:
- Ensured Council declared a climate emergency, switched to 100% green power for Council operations, and set a target of zero net emissions for Council by 2025 and the community by 2030.
- Introduced food composting services into green bins, cutting waste by up to 40%
- Kept council’s aged care facilities in public hands; and
- Improved the safety of people on our roads, footpaths and cycle network.

Our vision
Our vision is for an open and forward thinking council that puts caring for people and our environment front and centre of all its decisions. Our priorities are to:

Ensure council is inclusive and transparent in its decision making;

Improve our environmental performance and ensure Council upholds its commitment to be carbon neutral;

Preserve our unique neighbourhoods and heritage places and make it easier and safer to cycle or walk to our local shopping strips, parks and playgrounds.

Increase tree coverage and create more open green space for public use;

Promote community wellbeing, social justice and inclusion, and continue to provide high quality services for people of all ages, needs and abilities.
Change is inevitable, but it should not be at the cost of our heritage, our environment, or our cultural assets. People can have many different views on local issues, which is why genuine community involvement in council activities is critical.
