The Victorian Greens have welcomed reports that this year’s local government election will be held on October 24, saying their 80+ metro and regional candidates are ready to go.
The COVID-19 crisis has understandably hit communities hard, and councillors will play a vital role in our post-pandemic recovery.
That’s why the Greens are excited to soon launch a major campaign for the local government election with a focus on councils and communities recovering and rebuilding together.
With a team of councillors to make it happen, the Greens are hoping to:
- Lead local action on climate change
- Build a thriving local economy
- Grow our active green neighbourhoods
- Revolutionise recycling
Victorian Greens acting spokesperson for local government, Sam Hibbins, said dozens of existing Greens councillors had already been making huge differences in their local government areas and that the party was hoping to continue that legacy at the next election.
Quotes attributable to Victorian Greens spokesperson for local government, Sam Hibbins MP:
"It is more important than ever to have hard working Greens councillors who will help their communities recover and rebuild.
"The Greens are standing over 80 candidates right across Victoria who are focused on leading local action on climate change and building a thriving local economies."
