It's time for Labor to shut down VicForests and end native forest logging: Greens

2021-11-30

The Victorian Greens have said the recent expose on VicForests has made clear that the outlaw organisation has been allowed to get away with too much for too long by the Victorian Labor Government.

Following reports of illegal logging, spying on environmentalists, destroying the habitats of threatened species, and lying about regenerating forests, the Greens have called on the government to shut down VicForests and replace it with a Forests Transition Authority to transition out of native forest logging immediately and provide a package for workers and industry.

Quotes attributable to Deputy Leader of the Victorian Greens, Ellen Sandell MP:

“This new expose shows what the Greens have been saying for years – that logging native forests in Victoria is a complete environmental disaster and the Labor Government needs to end it now.

“Labor has let VicForests get away with criminal activity and enough is enough. It’s time to shut them down and end native forest logging for good.”
