Andrews end of life laws fail to include dying with dignity

Greens welcome the Victoiran Governemnt's proposal for improved end of life laws, but say it falls short as they do not include assisted dying (voluntary euthinasia) laws.

"These proposed laws fall short of giving dying people the right to end their life quickly if they are in agonising pain and suffering," said Colleen Hartland, Victorian Greens Spokesperson for Health.

"These proposed laws are very important for ensuring people's wishes are followed by doctors when they can no longer communicate them."

"Unless assisted dying laws are included, these end of life reforms will fail to provide the needed rights and compassion in our health system."

"The Andrews Government needs to find the political courage to act on this issue for the majority of Victorians, instead of fearing hyper conservative lobby groups," said Ms Hartland.
