The Government’s decision to announce Animal Welfare Victoria comes as Labor faces a challenge from the Greens in next month’s Northcote by-election, where the preferences of the Animal Justice Party are expected to be influential.
“Victorians know that Labor will continue to allow and promote duck shooting, jumps racing and greyhound racing without any regard to animal welfare,” Greens spokeswoman Sue Pennicuik said.
