Victorian Greens leader Greg Barber says today’s Belgrave train line failure was preventable and public transport users deserve an explanation from the Government.
“Preventable failures shouldn’t shut down an entire train line in peak hour,” Greg Barber said.
“These failures don’t happen in cities that take public transport seriously. The Government needs a plan to upgrade existing infrastructure after decades of neglect.
“The Greens are pushing for the installation of modern train signals across the network and a better maintenance regime to avoid preventable outages.
“We’ll be looking for funding to upgrading existing infrastructure in the state budget,” he said.
